A missing person case in Gujarat turned into a shocking murder investigation after police arrested a youth for killing his friend over a dispute involving a woman. Authorities recovered the victim’s body and continue deeper forensic analysis.

Victim Missing for 6 Days

The victim, Ramesh Maheshwari, a resident of Muru village, was reported missing on December 2 after he failed to return home. His family approached the police, prompting an extensive search operation across the region.

During the initial stages of the investigation, police examined call records, social media interactions and statements from friends. As inconsistencies emerged, suspicion turned toward Ramesh’s close friend Kishore, who was questioned multiple times.

Argument Over Woman Triggered Crime

According to investigators, both men knew the same woman. Police say Kishore had allegedly pressured the woman through Instagram messages, asking her to maintain a relationship with him. Feeling uncomfortable, she informed Ramesh, who confronted Kishore about the behaviour.

This confrontation allegedly angered Kishore, who later admitted to planning and executing the crime.

A minor boy was also taken into custody for questioning due to his suspected involvement.

Body Recovered After Accused’s Confession

Following sustained interrogation, Kishore led the police to a location on the outskirts of the village. Authorities recovered the victim's remains from concealed spots, where the accused had attempted to hide evidence.

The recovery operation was carried out jointly by the Nakhatrana police and district administration on Monday. Officials confirmed that the remains were found in different locations where the accused had attempted to dispose of them to obstruct the investigation.

Investigation Continues

Police are now probing:

  • Whether the crime was premeditated

  • The involvement of the minor

  • Digital evidence linked to communication between the accused, victim, and the woman

  • The exact timeline of the events

Senior police officials have stated that further forensic analysis and electronic data retrieval are underway.

Authorities also assured the victim’s family that strict action will be taken and additional charges may be filed based on the forensic reports.
