 The Odisha Assembly on Tuesday approved a major revision of salaries and allowances for sitting and former MLAs, increasing their monthly remuneration from ₹1.11 lakh to ₹3.45 lakh . This marks one of the steepest hikes among Indian states. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced the change after the Assembly unanimously passed four amendment bills enabling the revised pay structure, effective retrospectively from June 2024 , when the current Assembly was formed. MLAs will now earn ₹3.45 lakh/month , up from ₹1.11 lakh, after the Assembly approved one of the largest pay hikes in the country. Ministers and ex-MLAs also get significant increases.
